Both kids and kids-at-heart experienced a fun and laughter-filled afternoon at the launch of SM and The Walt Disney Company Philippines’ new retail campaign. Called “Share-A-Smile,” it was held at SM City North EDSA’s The Block last September 28.
The collaboration consists of Mickey True Original merchandise such as shirts, toys, bags, stationery, and home accessories. It was unveiled just in time for the beloved mouse’s 90th birthday celebration as well as SM’s 60th anniversary.
The SM Little Stars finalists opened the program with an energetic dance performance for an audience filled with kids from the SM Cares-supported Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines.
What better way to share a smile? Bring the character that has brought nothing but joy to everyone. As a surprise, Mickey Mouse showed up for an exclusive meet-and-greet, delighting the attendees with warm hugs, and photos together.
Meanwhile, actor Patrick Garcia and his wife Nikka brought their kids Michelle, Patrice, and Pia to see Mickey up close and live. The event was hosted by Nina Corpuz, whose husband Vince Rodriguez and their kids Stella and Emily, also attended.
The Share-A-Smile campaign—the “coming together of two originals”—aims to bring Mickey’s magical celebration to his Filipino fans.
“Mickey Mouse is a Disney icon who brings so much joy and laughter. We’re throwing a huge celebration for him and it includes this unique collaboration with SM,” says Walt Disney Company Philippines country head Veronica Cabalinan.
SM Supermalls senior vice president for marketing Jonjon San Agustin also describes Share-A-Smile as a “special kick off” for all the exciting holidays coming up. “You have Halloween as well as October being SM’s Kids’ Month to look forward to,” he adds.
To mark the milestones of both companies, limited-edition Mickey and Minnie plush toys will be sold at Toy Kingdom stores nationwide. Sixty exclusively-designed, Mickey-inspired shirts will be made available at SM Youth.
Apart from toys and apparel, the collection also includes a sweet treat called Mickey The True Original Cookies available at SM’s Snack Exchange. Shoppers will also get to bring home any of the four limited edition Mickey tote bags for free. This, with a minimum spend of P1,000 on any Share-A-Smile item or Mickey Classic products.
Smiles will also be shared across the metro as the campaign festivities will also visit 10 other SM Supermalls this month including the Megamall (October 2-16), Mall of Asia (October 1-12), Aura (October17-26), Southmall (October 18-31), Fairview (October 2-16), San Lazaro (October 2-16), and Marikina (October 18-31) branches.
“What makes me happy is when I see people smiling in activities we do. It takes away all the exhaustion and anxiety while preparing for the launch,” says San Agustin. “This is what it’s all about—making people happy.”
The Share-A-Smile merchandise is now available in SM Stores and kiosks nationwide. For more information, visit smsupermalls.com.
