Honor 8X: More than just another smartphone

Finding their niche in the saturated local market of smartphones, Honor holds on to its positive streak as it introduces another offering in the Philippines, the Honor 8X.


Flaunting a minimalist design made to entice millennials, the Honor 8X sports a 6.5-inch FHD screen with a 91% screen-to-body ratio with FullView Display 2.0 for an uncompromised viewing in all angles. Its 19.5:9 screen ratio is close to the 21:9 ratio used by cinemas, thus giving users an immersive movie experience on a mobile phone.


Made for long-time usage may it be for gaming or video viewing, the Honor 8X has a new generation eye comfort mode which can reduce blue light radiation to minimize eye fatigue. Aside from this, Honor 8X’s screen comes planted with sunlight and night display technologies to allowing users to see clearly its screen under direct sunlight as well as read comfortably at night.


Mirroring its premium display and design to its internals, the Honor 8X conceals an octa-core Kirin 710 chipsets using 12nm process technology, resulting to smartphone performance that’s 75% faster than the previous generation, making it an ideal budget phone with high-definition video playback and 3D gaming support.


Similar to Huawei and Honor models updated with GPU turbo, the Honor 8X also carries the same technology intended to boost graphic performance for an optimized mobile gaming experience. This is further complemented with a either a combination of 4GB RAM and 64GB or with 128GB internal memory, both expandable up to 400GB. The Honor 8X will also save users from the dilemma of sacrificing a second sim card for storage expansion, as the device comes with three independent card slots to allow usage of two sum cards and a microSD card all at once. The Honor 8X operates on an Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with EMUI 8.2 on top.


Joining the ranks of smartphones with AI-powered dual rear cameras, the Honor 8X has a combination of 20-megapixel and 2-megapixel main shooters capable of recognizing and automatically adjusting camera settings depending on 22 different categories and 500 scenarios. The Honor 8X’s rear cameras has AI capabilities similar to that of the flagship Honor 10.

One of its unique selling points include its multi-frame stabilization technology, allowing blur-free handheld night shots. The device also has a super slow-motion mode that can record videos at 480fps 16x slow motion. Other camera features are beautification mode, bokeh effects, and 3D portrait lighting.

In terms of its selfie camera, the Honor 8X has a 16-megapixel front snapper with enhanced ISO and multi-frame image processing that allows twice more light to enter the camera.

Running on a stamina of 3750mAh, the Honor 8X can last for more than a day of normal usage on a single charge with its Power Saving technology which expands the device’s battery life by 33 percent.

The official local pricing of the Honor 8X will be announced during its Philippine launch on October 10, with the first units to be available offline and online starting October 13, coinciding with the opening of the 1st Honor branding shop in the country located at SM North EDSA.
