Decomposing body of NPA found

CAMP DATU LIPUS MAKAPANDONG, Awa, New Leyte, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur – Peace and development troops of the Army’s 36th Infantry (Valor) Battalion (36th IB) found on Thursday morning a decomposing body of an alleged communist terrorist abandoned by their comrade-in-arms in the mountainous area of Barangay Hinapuyan, Carmen town, Surigao del Sur. Capt. Francisco P. Garello, Jr., Civil Military Operation (CMO) officer of the 36th IB said.

Found beside the decomposing body of the CNT were 9 rounds of 40mm M203 Grenade ammunition, 1 bandolier, and a pair of rain boots.

He said last Sept. 7, 2018 at 1:34 p.m., a 5-minute gun battle ensued between government forces and fully armed CNTs in the same vicinity which resulted in the recovery of two AK-47 rifle, one M16 Armalite rifle attached with M203 grenade launcher, cell phones, and other items with high intelligence value.
