Curve Entertainment has signed up five bands set to rock the music scene with their distinct brand of original music (gusto ko ring i-rock ang music industry!). Indeed, Kilos, Insanara, Reggae Mistress, Lady I and Purpleshoes are lit! (Gusto ko ring mag-iginite ang career ko!)
“We are optimistic with the re-emergence of these bands in the recording scene. We are really proud to have them join our growing stable of local artists,” Curve Entertainment President Narciso Chan said. (Pwede po ba ako mag-emerge?!)
Kilos is a four-man alternative rock band composed of former high school friends. They return with a mix of heartbreaking lyrics and strong musicality. After a fairly successful outing in 2010 with their debut album, “Time Machine,” Kilos is back to breaking hearts with the romantic single, “Darating, Aalis.” (Parang pang ex-jowa ang title ha!)
Insanara was among the Top 30 semi-finalists out of approximately 2,500 bands nationwide who auditioned and submitted an entry to the Nescafe Soundskool last 2010 (baka mahilig magkape itong mga ito!). They are now ready with 12 original songs catering to all age brackets. (May song ba para sa aming millennials?!)
Reggae Mistress is the only reggae band in the Philippines fronted by three powerful women with a unique style all their own aptly called the “Mistress Style” (di naman siguro nakaka-stress ’yan!). They recently released the album “The Sistahs Are Doin’ It” via digital platform. (Can you be my sistahs?!)
Another strong reggae artist is Lady I, a dance hall talent from Manila whose music is a mix of reggae, dance hall/dub soul and blues influences. She fuses old school blues and rock and roll style. Her original compositions focus on freedom, herbal healing and the universal message of one love. (Ay, gusto ko ’yung may herbal!)
“Music is part of our culture and Filipino music will always be here to stay. There are lots of talented bands just waiting to be discovered. With on-line music platforms now,we have an additional venue for artists,” Narciso pointed out. (Na-discover nako pero parang dinedma lang after!)
Purpleshoes is a Tarlac-based indie band whose members used to simply jam together as friends. They perform songs that pertain to situations of everyday life. Their debut single, “Taguan,” talks about patience and perseverance in love and life, something that each member can relate to. (Ay, para ’yan sa mga nang-uubos ng pasensya!)
“My dream is to see OPM go global. I’m sure this dream is not exclusive to me. Every Filipino musician wants this for the music industry,” Narciso shared. (Ay, gusto ko rin maging global ang beauty ko! Push!)
