World Tourism Day 2018


world-tourism-day-2018World Tourism Day is celebrated  worldwide every 27th of September to raise awareness on tourism’s contributions to sustainable development.

The United Nations World Tourism Organization has been celebrating World Tourism Day since 1980, the day decrees of the UNWTO went into force. Peace and Dialogue, Energy, Accessibility, World Heritage, Water and Tourism, and Sustainable Tourism have been among the themes of previous celebrations of World Tourism Day.

The declaration of 2018’s World Tourism Day subject was made on the sidelines of the 63rd Meeting of the UNWTO Regional Commission for Europe that took place in Prague, Czech Republic, in June.

This year’s World Tourism Day celebration will concentrate on digital technology that provides opportunities for innovation. The annual celebration will be held at Budapest, Hungary, as announced by The World Tourism Organization (UNTWO).

Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili said the UNWTO sees digital progress and improvement as helping solve the challenge of unifying development with a more sustainable and responsible tourism sector.
