Naga landslide death toll reaches 56

The Central Command of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP-CENTCOM) on Tuesday said the death toll in the landslide that hit Naga City, Cebu has already reached 56.

In a statement, the CentCom said four days after additional troops were deployed for rescue mission as well as the additional rescue volunteers, the total recovered missing persons have increased from 29 on Saturday to 56 as of Tuesday.

Captain Dave Anthony Pajel of the Army's 53rd Engineer Brigade, who is leading one rescue team in the area, said rescuers displayed strong determination and inexorable efforts to recover more landslide victims in Naga City, Cebu.

A total of 10 others were also hurt and more or less 35 others missing in the incident.
