LIPA CITY, Batangas — A Muslim leader has called for better understanding and brotherhood among Islamic and Christian believers and downplayed notions that these two religions have a fight. “This is not a fight between Christian and Muslim,” said Dr. Alim Patani Sultan Abdul Malik, Ph.D, president of Ulama and Imam of the Philippines.

He said the only borderline is not between the two religions, but “a fight among greedy people.” Meanwhile, Father Cirilo Arce of the San Sebastian Cathedral discouraged biases rooted in the past that makes people judge one another.

Last Saturday, an interfaith ecumenical conference saw 4,500 Muslim families joining in the celebration of Christian-Muslim Friendship Month this September through an ordinance authored by Councilor Gwen Wong. (Lyka Manalo)
