Another inmate of Manila City Jail died Tuesday morning.
Ramon Tupaz Guevarra, 58, succumbed to death at 11:30 a.m. last September 18.
Based on the records of the Manila City Jail Medical Infirmary, Guevarra was seen gasping for his breath until he lost his consciousness.
Medical personnel of the detention facility immediately gave him first aid.
However, he was not responsive, prompting them to rush him to Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Hospital.
Despite efforts to revive him, he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician, Dr. Steffi Joyce Abrazaldo.
During the cursory examination of Abrazaldo’s body, there were no signs of physical injury.
His body was then brought to Cruz Funeral Homes for autopsy and temporary safekeeping.
Police are now investigating the cause of his death.
Abrazaldo was put to jail last August 12, 2016 while Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 13 was trying his possession of illegal drugs case.
He is the third Manila City Jail inmate to die this year, according to Manila Police District spokesperson Police Superintendent Carlo Manuel.
