The Philippine National Police (PNP) has mobilized all its elite forces in Central Mindanao to hunt down those responsible in the bombing in General Santos City yesterday that left seven people injured.
The bombing that occurred beside a pharmacy on a national highway in General Santos City was the third bomb attack in Central Mindanao in the past few weeks, the first two were both in Isulan town of Sultan Kudarat that left a total of five people dead and more than 40 others wounded.
PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said he had also tasked police forces in the region to intensify conduct of checkpoints, police visibility patrols, and focused intelligence and law enforcement operations.
“I have directed the mobilization of all available police security forces in pursuit operations against persons responsible for the latest act of terrorism in General Santos City,” Albayalde said..
“We assure the public of our keen resolve and commitment to bring before the bar of justice those responsible for this dastardly and vicious act,” he added.
Albayalde also called on the public to cooperate, especially in sharing information as to the identity of the suspects and groups responsible for the attack.
The government earlier tagged a faction of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters in the two blasts in Isulan Kudarat. Charges have already been filed against some BIFF faction leaders and members.
The attack occurred while Mindanao is under martial law and after the PNP has declared highest security alert status after the two Isulan bombings.
“We will surely appreciate any information from our citizens that may help police to identify the suspects and solve this particular case,” Albayalde said.
“We likewise enjoin our citizens to continue to remain calm but vigilant as we tackle together this scourge of terrorism in our midst. And together, with God’s help, we shall continue to win and the cause of peace shall surely prevail in Mindanao,” he added.
