Barangay Captain Che-Che De Jesus of Apolonio Samson said in a text message that out of 367 families, some 100 families remained at the evacuation center located at the barangay covered court.

De Jesus said that evacuees received donations like groceries, toiletries, mats, and blankets from the barangay and the Social Service Development Department of Quezon City.

She also added that this is the first successful preemptive evacuation they conducted because residents immediately heeded their advice to evacuate.

De Jesus said that local officials were ignored in the past every time they conducted preemptive measures to flood-prone areas, but the response of residents to preemptive evacuation prior to typhoon Ompong’s landfall was definitely beneficial.
