FAMILY TRADITION: Long before the Revilla family ventured into politics, their patriarch, Ramon Revilla Sr., had shown love of place by naming his movie company after his hometown, Imus Productions.

At its peak in the 1970s, Imus produced blockbusters that catapulted the senior Revilla to unprecedented heights. Two of the company’s biggest hits had been his own starrers, “Nardong Putik” and “Pepeng Agimat,” among so many others.

Imus Productions was also behind several Bong Revilla action-dramas in the late ’80s and early ’90s. It remained inactive for several years but managed to bounce back now and then with noteworthy projects.

JOLO COMEBACK: This time around, Imus is back with a 3-in-one movie called “Tres,” a trilogy starring Revilla brothers Jolo, Bryan and Luigi.

An action-drama conceived by their dad, former Sen. Bong Revilla, the film is a tribute of sorts to a movie genre long missing in the local film industry.

In an interview, Cavite Vice Gov. Jolo Revilla said it was his father’s wish to revive Imus Productions at the same time provide employment to stuntmen and other little industry workers who used to work with him in his prime.

This is a common industry sentiment among senior stars, including Coco Martin, who accommodates jobless actors on his long-running, turning 3-year old TV series, “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.”

In their prime, Fernando Poe Jr., Joseph Estrada, Dolphy and Nora Aunor also produced movies to help their less fortunate peers.

THREE IN ONE: “Tres” is subtitled “72 Hours” (starring Jolo), “Virgo” (Bryan), and Amats (Luigi).

The film marks Jolo’s comeback after 10 years. His last project was Star Cinema’s “My Binondo Girl,” topbilled by Kim Chiu.

Jolo, however, did a cameo in “Agimat At Enteng Kabisote.” Recently, he was seen for a few days on “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.”

Doing a guest role in “72 Hours” is Lovi Poe, with whom Jolo was linked early on in his career. They have remained friends.

Jolo is also on friendly terms with former girlfriend, Grace Adriano, mother of his firstborn.
