A slot in the opposition Liberal Party (LP) senatorial ticket will remain open for former Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

Senator Francis Pangilinan, LP president, revealed this after meeting with Sereno following her visit to embattled opposition Senator Antonio F. Trollanes IV at the Senate building.

Trillanes refused to leave the building for fear of being arrested after President Duterte voided the amnesty that was given him by former President Benigno Simeon Aquino III.

Pangilinan said he would wait for a statement from Sereno, herself, after she has met with Vice President Leni Robredo, LP chairperson.

During their brief meeting at the Senate, Pangilinan said that Sereno suggested to groups or organizations to frame questions with far-reaching effect during the coming mid-term 2019 elections.

On President Duterte’s statement that a foreign country had bugged the conversation of Trllanes and Jose Ma. Sison, one of the founders of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), aimed at toppling him, Pangilinan replied: ‘’Baka sabihin niya, baka magbago isip niya, minsan kasi may sinasaabi si Pangulo pagkatapos mamay sasabihin niya ‘biro lang.’ Hindo na lang muna tayo magco-comment doon.’’ (The President might just change his mind and say he was just kidding. So it is better not to comment.)

Earlier, Pangilinan confirmed that the LP had more than enough names to fill a senatorial slate.
