The comedian-singer along with his fans broke the world record over the weekend for the largest gathering of people applying lipstick in one place at the same time.

A total of 6,900 people were officially recognized to have taken part in the attempt at Araneta Coliseum, smashing the previous record of 5,840 held by MaryKay Cosmetics in China in 2015.

A Guinness official said some 108 participants were disqualified from the count for not putting on lipstick, but it mattered little. According to him, the criterion for being included in the count was “you started with clean lips, you have lipstick on at the end of the minute, and the stewards were there to watch it all.”

On Instagram, Vice Ganda wrote, “We made it!!!!!! W/ 6900 participants tayo na ang may hawak ng Guinness World Record sa pinakamaraming bilang ng sabay sabay na naglipstick! Kavogue ang buong mundoooo!!! Congrats.”

Just before the new record was made official, he also showed appreciation to the crowd, saying, “Sa lahat sa inyo — girl, boy, bakla, tomboy — na naki-participate, give yourselves a big round of applause.”

(“To all of you – girl, boy, gay, lesbian – who participated, give yourselves a big round of applause.”)

Vice Ganda first announced his plans to break the record last month, as part of a campaign to promote his makeup line, Vice Cosmetics, which was launched October last year.

He arranged a music festival titled “Ganda For All,” inviting the likes of Darren Espanto, Moira dela Torre, AC Bonifacio, Shanti Dope and Yeng Constantino to perform. Also present at the event were Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, Korina Sanchez, Maymay Entrata and other local brands.
