The Senate minority bloc on Friday called on friends and supporters ‘’who value democracy’’ to come to the Senate to show support to beleaguered opposition Senator Antonio F. Trillanes IV.

The call was led by Senator Francis Pangilinan, president of the opposition Liberal Party (LP), following reports that there might be an attempt to illegally arrest Trillanes late yesterday (Friday) or over the weekend when the courts are closed.

Pangilinan said the presence of these friends would show support to Trillanes who remains holed up at the Senate building for fear of being illegally arrested after Malacanang revoked his amnesty granted during the Aquino administration.

‘’Our presence there will hopefully make those affecting the illegal arrest think twice,’’ he said.

Bowing to appeals of media practitioners, Senate press officials ordered the opening of the Senate press this Saturday and Sunday as reporters continue their coverage of the Trillanes affair.
