Village chief gunned down by riding-in-tandem in Compostela Valley

DAVAO CITY - A village chief from Monkayo town in Compostela Valley Province was gunned down on Tuesday afternoon, a police official confirmed.

Police Chief Inspector Milgrace Driz, spokesperson of Police Regional Office 11 said Joselito Crizaldo, barangay captain of Barangay Pasian was shot dead by two men who were onboard a motorcycle at 1:00pm Tuesday.

Driz said Crizaldo was shot along Matillosa Street in Barangay Poblacion in Monkayo town.

Based on the initial investigation of the local police, Crizaldo was preparing to go home when an unidentified suspect shot him once on the head.

"The unidentified suspects withdrew towards Cervantes road onboard a black TMX motorcycle," Driz said.

Police recovered a fired cartridge case of a .45 ammunition and a deformed bullet.

Authorities are still conducting hot-pursuit operation against the suspects.

Driz said they are appealing to those who have witnessed the incident to cooperate with the police.
