IED explodes at 2ID speedboat while docked at Masbate port

CAMP OLA, Legazpi City – Two speedboats owned by the 2nd Infantry Division (2IB) of the Philippine Army were partially damaged after an unidentified suspect placed an improvised explosive device (IED) which exploded while docked at Masbate port, in Masbate City early morning on Monday. No one was hurt in the explosion.

Chief Inspector Malu Calubaquib, spokesperson of Police Regional Office 5 (PRO-5) told the Manila Bulletin that based on a report coming from Masbate City, the explosion happened at around 12:30 a.m. Monday at the port of Brgy Bapor, Masbate City.

She said an unidentified suspect placed an IED at the speed boat which exploded resulting in minor damage to one speed boat and a partial damage to the other boat.

The suspect immediately fled to an unknown direction.

Investigation is still ongoing as of presstime.
