No casualties were reported but eight families were affected in the said incident.

Senior Inspector Redentor Alumno of the Manila Fire Bureau said the fire started from a two-story residential house owned by Roberto Santiago, 76, who left an electric fan open which supposedly overheated and started the blaze.

Arson investigators said the blaze began at 4:45 p.m. and reached second alarm at 4:48 p.m.

“We should always make sure that if we let other people repair an electric fan or any other appliances, make sure that is properly repaired,” Alumno said in Filipino.

The fire raged for almost one hour before it was put out at 6:01 p.m.

Alumno said at least P450,000 worth of property was destroyed by the fire.
