NDRRMC habagat response continues

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) through its Regional DRRM Councils Thursday said it continues to facilitate response operations in Habagat-affected communities.

To date, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Public Affairs, said a total of 342,669 families or 1,420,802 persons from 954 barangays in Regions I, III, CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), CAR (Cordillera Autonomous Region) and NCR (National Capital Region) were affected by the Habagat starting Saturday, 11 August 2018.

Displaced families summed up to 29,910 familes or 135,059 persons. Relief operations is ongoing in 10,243 displaced families inside 282 evacuation centers. However, there are 38,606 families who sought shelter with their relatives and are being assisted by the government.

The NDRRM Operations Center remains to be on red alert to continuously monitor the effects of Habagat in most parts of Luzon. Likewise, the Response Cluster remains activated to ensure that the basic needs and specific concerns of affected communities are being addressed.

The OCD has augmented rice supply and hygiene kits to Regions III, CALABARZON and MIMAROPA.

A total of P35, 039,855.07 worth of food and non-food items from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Local Government Units has been provided for Regions I, III, CALABARZON, CAR, and NCR.

It can be recalled that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has instructed the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), to ensure immediate delivery of assistance in affected areas.

Likewise, concerned government agencies were prompted to prepare sufficient resources in such emergency situations.

The public is advised to monitor weather situation and take the necessary precautions while Habagat continues to prevail and affect the western section of Luzon.
