Man who walked on MRT rails shot by guard

A homeless man who walked naked along the Manila Metro Rail Transit (MRT) system railway on Wednesday was shot by a security guard after the man allegedly fought back while being accosted.

Reports said the incident happened at 8:34 a.m. in between Ayala and Magallanes MRT stations. The man reportedly threw stones towards three MRT security guards and a policeman who was called to respond to the incident who tried to convince him to leave the railway.

MRT security guard Federico Bustamante, 30, a resident of Novaliches, Quezon City, shot the homeless man and wounded him in the right heel.

The incident that lasted for 10 minutes temporarily stopped MRT operations.

Bustamante is being held by police. They recovered from him one unit 9 mm ARMSCOR Cal. pistol w/ serial no. 1392123, three live ammunitions and one magazine.
