The Senate has suspended work on Monday, August 13, due to inclement weather.
Senate President Vicente Sotto III on Monday morning said the suspension will start at 11 a.m.
“(We) can’t suspend totally immediately because there are some pending checks needed by some Senate offices,” he told reporters.
Sotto said he was advised that half of the number of employees in the Upper Chamber was affected by floods due to the heavy monsoon rains over the weekend.
Most of their employees reside in Quezon City and Manila, two of the most affected cities in Metro Manila.
Committee hearings scheduled for Monday have also been cancelled as of 8 a.m., except for the one on rural electrification and the status of the country’s electrification which was scheduled by the Senate Committee on Energy at 9 a.m.
