P29.2-M marijuana burned in Kalinga

CAMP BADO DANGWA, Benguet – Another marijuana plantation were destroyed and burned on site worth P29.2 million, by personnel of the anti-illegal task force of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera at Barangay Bugnay, Tinglayan, Kalinga the other day.

Joint operatives from the Tinglayan Municipal Police Station (MPS), Kalinga Drug Enforcement Unit, Kalinga Mobile Force Company, and Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15, in coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Cordillera Administrative Region (PDEA-CAR) were able to destroy and burn about 146,200 fully-grown marijuana plants discovered at 17 plantation sites covering an estimated total land area of 19,510 square meters.

Chief Supt. Rolando Nana, regional director, said the success of the operation is attributed to the strengthened collaboration between the government forces and the community whose timely information led to the discovery of the plantation areas.
