CAMP BANCASI, Butuan City – Five New People’s Army (NPA) surrenderees in Abra province received cash assistance in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon province on Saturday, 1st Lt. Tere Ingente, chief of Public Affairs Office (PAO) of the Army’s 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division (4th ID) on Monday said.

The 4th ID PAO chief told The Manila Bulletin that the surrenderees received P10,000 each as cash assistance from the provincial government of Bukidnon during a turnover ceremony at 403rd Infantry (Peacemaker) Brigade headquarters in Malaybalay City.

These 5 NPAs who surrendered in Abra, are residents of Bukidnon and immediately turned over to the E-CLIP committee of Bukidnon.

“When we found out that there were NPA surrenderees in Abra who are from Bukidnon, we immediately took effort to find their families and coordinated for their safe trip back here in Bukidnon,” 403rd Brigade commander Brig. Gen. Eric Vinoya also stated, in a statement sent to The Manila Bulletin.

“Each surrenderee received cash assistance from the LGU under Gov. Jose Ma. Zubiri Jr. that is over and above the assistance that is being processed under E-CLIP,” he added.

The five NPA surrenderees were identified as Alias Marco, 18 years old; Alias Jomar, 17; Alias Gerald, 17; Alias Macoy, 18; and Alias Deboni, 19 — all their true names withheld for security reason, Ingente said.

They surrendered to 24th Infantry Battalion under the Army’s 7th Infantry Division based in Barangay Tagodtod, Lagangilang, Abra province on July 5, 2018, the 4th ID PAO chief added.

Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Ronald C. Villanueva, commanding general of the Army’s Northeastern and Northern Mindanao 4th ID on Monday said more NPAs are expected to surrender due to the dwindling forces of the Godless communist movement.

“It was previously reported to us earlier this year that some NPA terrorists were being transferred to other areas in order to reinforce their dwindling forces,” he said.

NPA terrorists continue to deceive fellow Filipinos just to recruit people and join their failed armed struggle, he said.

“However, the 4th ID with the whole Philippine Army is willing to help NPA terrorists who want to go back to the folds of the law and live a normal life with their families,” he said.

He added: “We will assist you in your enrolment to E-CLIP and your reintegration to the society.”
