While the dialogue was being conducted among the informal settlers’ leaders, Barangay Captain Wivin Llana of Laiya, and San Juan chief of police, at the Kabayan Resort, another commotion arose about a kilometer away from the demolition area, at around 11:30 a.m.

The victims who sustained laceration wounds were rushed to San Juan District Hospital but Ladja died while being treated.

Estino was declared dead on arrival at the Batangas Medical Center while the other two are now on stable condition.
