The Philippine National Police (PNP) has prepared a contingency plan in case President Duterte decides to go out and face the protesters before or after his 3rd State of the Nation Address (SONA).

But PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said that if they were to be asked, they would advise the President not to do so.

“Hopefully he would not do that but just in case, we are prepared,” said Albayalde.

Last year, Duterte went out of the Batasang Pambansa and confronted the militant activists holding protest actions. But officials said Duterte may not do the same this time.

“We have enough policemen deployed so we are prepared for any contingency,” said Albayalde.
