Palo, Leyte – Policemen squandering their salaries in gambling areas such as cockpits and casinos will be facing sanctions.
Leyte Police Provincial Office (LPPO) Director Norberto Tuazon reiterated his warning to police personnel to avoid going and betting in cockpit arenas, whether on or off duty.
“Although mayroon pa ring matitigas ang ulo, if you would be caught you would be answerable to your unit commander,” he said.
The official warned that his office is continuously monitoring active PNP members who are violating the directive, which prohibits cops and other uniformed men from going to golf courses, cockpit and horseracing arenas and casinos, especially during office hours.
Tuazon added his office would impose administrative and other sanctions for defiance of orders against those who would be found to violate the rules.
He stressed that policemen should be reminded that they are mandated to lead modest lives appropriate to their positions and income as public officials.
Tuazon likewise encouraged the public to report any cop who would be seen gambling in public places.
