Village chair died in gun attack

GENERAL SANTOS CITY- A village chair was killed while a retired policeman was wounded after they were waylaid by motorcycle-riding suspects along the national in Barangay Baluan, this city Wednesday night.

City police director Raul Supiter identified the fatality as Jonalyn Sumagka, village chair of Barangay Baluntay, Alabel Sarangani while the injured victim was identified as Johnny Kinjiyo, formerly assigned with the PNP-Maritime Group.

The victims were aboard a Nissan Sentra car when shot by one of the two unidentified suspects riding a motorcycle along the national highway in Barangay Baluan. this city.

Witnesses said the suspects immediately fled aboard their gate-away motorcycle.

Investigators are eyeing land conflict as the possible motive in the attack.
