Drug personalities caught

Nine drug personalities were arrested by police after they were caught in separate follow-up operations engaged in a pot session Thursday in Barangay 43, Pasay City.

Nabbed were Zenaida Padua 49, of Lumbayao St. San Antonio Village, Makati City, Maria Elena Tropico, 36 of F Munoz st. Pasay, Vanessa Torres 36, from Quezon, province, Jorlan Gamboa, 33 of Ermita Manila, Jerry Gigante, 35, of Ermita Manila Robert Adrian Cagat, 25, of Arroceros, Ermita Manila and Cornelio Undag, 53, of Road 15 San Andres Bukid, Manila

Investigation showed that the Buendia PCP was called by a concerned citizen regarding an ongoing pot session along F.Munoz St., Brgy 43 Zone 6 Pasay City.

Upon arrival in the area at around 4 in the afternoon, the front door of the house was slightly open, and authorities caught them suspects in the act and immediately arrested them.

Police recovered one aluminum foil strip with traces of shabu, three rolled aluminum foil used as improvised totter with traces of shabu, one disposable lighter three empty plastic transparent sachets with traces of shabu.

Another arrest was made at about 8:30 in the evening along B. Mayor St., Brgy 177, Malibay, Pasay City. Two suspects were apprehended.

Ex-barangay captain held

A former barangay captain in Ilocos Sur, who was reportedly listed as a high-value target in President Duterte's drug watchlist, was arrested in Caloocan City Tuesday night.

After four years of hiding, Renato "Atong" Tengsico, 72, was finally arrested inside an apartment in Barangay 171 in Bagumbong.

Aside from being listed as level two high-value target in President Duterte's drug watchlist, Tengsico was also considered as the most wanted person in his province, Caloocan police chief Sr. Supt. Restituto Arcangel said.

He was alleged leader of the "Tengsico-Cabreros Drug Group," said to be behind the source of illegal drug trade in the second district if Ilocos Sur.

Armed with a warrant of arrest issued by Ilocos Sur Regional Trial Court Branch 76 Judge Sixto Diompoc, joint operatives of intelligence and drug enforcement units of the Caloocan and Ilocos Sur
arrested Tengsico around 9:30 p.m.

Tengsico, who went hiding since being out on bail in 2014, was sentenced to life for his illegal drugs charges a year later.

Case investigator PO3 John Cezar Mendoza said Tengsico was a former barangay captain in Poblacion, Ilocos Sur until he was nabbed for possession of 11 grams of shabu.

During his arrest, police said they also seized five grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P20,000. (Kate Javier)

Widow shot dead

A year after her husband was killed by masked men, a vendor was shot dead by motorcycle-riding assailants in Caloocan City Friday night.

Jennifer Taporado, 27, vendor, of Barangay 154 in Bagong Barrio, died on the spot after she was shot by motorcycle-riding assailants.

Initial investigation showed that Taporada was walking along Peta Street at around 6:50 p.m. when two men onboard a motorcycle appeared and shot her twice in the head.

Police recovered from the scene two empty shells of still unknown firearm while the suspects managed to escape.

The mother of Taporada told police that her daughter received death threats prior to the incident.

She disclosed that her daughter filed a case against a man who attempted to rape her months ago.

Taporada was one of the widows who sought help from the Church for her daughter's scholarship. Her husband, Ryan, was also killed by vigilantes, according to Caloocan City Bishop Pablo Virgilio David.

Drug peddler dies in shootout

An alleged drug peddler was killed after engaging in a shootout with police officers during a buy bust in Quezon City, early Thursday.

Members of the Quezon City Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit identified the slain suspect as certain "Joseph," wearing black shirt and black short pants, with tattoos on his chest, and left and right arms.

Report showed that operatives of QCPD La Loma Police Station (PS-1) conducted a drug sting against Joseph at Kaingin Bukid in Barangay Apolonio Samson about 2:30 a.m.

After the transaction, the undercover policeman signaled responding officers.

However, Joseph sensed that he was dealing with police officers prompting him to drew his firearm and fire towards them.

Authorities retaliated which resulted in the victim's death due to multiple gunshot wounds on his body.

Seized from the suspect were a caliber .38 revolver without serial number, a cigarette box containing four sachets of shabu, a lighter, and a black motorcycle with plate number 6588HZ. (Alexandria San Juan)
