6 kidnap victims rescued in Sulu

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The military in Sulu province rescued to safety six members of the Javier family including the 6-month old infant, 20 days after they were kidnapped by gunmen belonging to a Kidnap for Ransom Group (KFRG) operating in the Triple-SB or Sirawai, Sibuco, Siocon and Baliguian area in Zamboanga del Norte.

Joint Task Force-Sulu (JTF-Sulu) Commander Brig Gen Devino Rey Pabayo said elements of the JTF-Sulu rescued to safety Feliciano Javier, 30: Elsa Javier,30: Junior Javier, 22: Rica Javier, 22: Val Javier, 22: and a 6-month old Vincent Javier about 11 pm, Tuesday.

The victims were all residents of Sitio Maasom, Barangay San Nicolas in Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte.

The military tagged Jamilo Wahab, leader of a KFRG as behind in the kidnapping of the Javier family last June 28, 2018.

The victims were rescued at Sitio Tibangaw, Barangay Gata in Talipao, Sulu by soldiers of JTF-Sulu.

The rescued kidnapped victims were immediately Luuk District Hospital located at Barangay Tubig Puti in Luuk, Sulu for medical checkup.

According to Pabayo, the rescued kidnapped victims will undergo initial debriefing and proper documentation before turning them over to their family.
