ZAMBOANGA CITY – Six people died and 44 others were wounded when a passenger jeepney turned upside down at barangay Dao in Pagadian City Wednesday noon.

Report reaching this city said a passenger died on the spot while five others were declared dead on arrival (DOA) at the hospital where they were rushed for medical treatment.

The report said 44 others were wounded, some of them are in critical condition and are now confined at the different private and government hospitals in Pagadian City.

The police report said the passenger jeepney with plate number JVH 576 and driven by Marlito Palaran lost control of the steering wheels after its brake malfunction.

As a result of the accident, the jeepney hit and damaged a Fort Ecospot SUV, a Mitsubishi Adventure, and two other vehicles.
