Drug personality killed in shootout with cops

A drug personality was killed in a buy-bust operation after he shot it out with police officers Saturday night in Pasay City.

The victim who died on the spot, was identified as Salvador Evangelista Jr., of Apelo Cruz St., Barangay 157, Zone 16 in Pasay City.

Investigation showed that a drug sting operation was conducted by anti-narcotics operatives at the house Evangelista at around 11:55 p.m.

After the drug transaction, the suspect sensed that he was transacting with a police officer and ran upstairs to his house.

Two police officers pursued him and as he was cornered at the third floor, he drew his firearm and fired two successive gunshots at the lawmen, forcing them to retaliate.

The suspect was hit and died on the spot. Police recovered one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of shabu and a caliber .36 revolver with pieces of live ammunition. (Dhel Nazario)

3 notorious drug pushers arrested in buy-bust ops

Three alleged notorious drug pushers, including a teenager, were arrested after police allegedly seized around P100,000 worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or "shabu" during a sting in Malabon City Saturday night.

Police identified the arrested suspects as Rocky King Jakosalem, 27, jobless; Randy Rubio, 35, jobless; and a 17-year-old boy.

Anti-narcotics operatives from the Northern Police District's special operation and drug enforcement units launched a buy-bust operation against the three suspects in their neighborhood in Barangay Longos around 9 p.m.

They were then arrested after they allegedly sold sachets of suspected shabu worth P14,000 to an undercover cop.

Recovered from them were four packs of shabu weighing 18 grams with a street value of P100,000.

Police said the arrested suspects were known drug peddlers in the area.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against Jakosalem and Rubio while the teenager will be turned over to the city social welfare's custody. (Kate Javier)

Dead body of man with gunshot wounds in the head found

A dead body of a man with gunshot wounds in the head was found in Caloocan City early Saturday morning, a belated report said.

Investigators said the man who appeared to be in his 30s, 5"0 in height and clad in gray T-shirt and blue jeans, is still unidentified as of writing.

Initial investigation showed that a resident in the area heard two gunshots before he saw the lifeless body of the victim oozing with blood along 5th Avenue at around 2:20 a.m.

Police recovered from the scene two empty shells of still unknown caliber of firearm, two live ammunition, two sachets of suspected shabu, and two sachets of marijuana leaves.

Meanwhile, a closed-circuit television footage near the area showed a car which believed was the same vehicle that dropped off the body. It was being followed by two men onboard two motorcycles.

According to barangay officials, the victim was not a resident in their barangay.

The victim's body was brought to PNP accredited morgue while follow-up investigation is now underway. (Kate Javier)
