ILIGAN CITY – The burned and naked body of an unidentified man was found at a grassy area, Saturday, in Purok 3, Barangay Poblacion in Naawan, Misamis Oriental.

According to SPO1 Cirilo Manco, an investigator of the Naawan police, residents in the area reported hearing the sound of two gunshots at around 2 a.m. Saturday.
"A concerned citizen called up this station, informing us that a dead body was seen lying in the grassy part of that area," Manco said.
Manco added a resident told the police he saw a white van speeding towards the crime scene moments before the gun fires were heard.
The victim was found by a resident. He was estimated to be between 15 to 25 years old, according to PO2 Mark Marcilla of Naawan Police Station.
Marcilla said there were two gunshot wounds found on his body - one in the right temple and another one in the right side of the chest.
The only identification mark on him was a tattoo of ‘Nuel’ on his left arm. "He was burned. There is indication he was doused with gasoline because we can still smell it when we conducted investigation," Marcilla said.
Two slugs of caliber .45, buried one feet deep, were retrieved in the area the body was lying.
The dead body was brought to a morgue in nearby Manticao town while waiting for a family to identify and claim him.
