Though she has already been appointed by Malacañang, former Democratic Independent Workers’ Association (DIWA) partylist Rep. Emmeline Aglipay-Villar will not be immediately assuming her post as Justice Undersecretary.
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra explained that the wife of Public Works Secretary Mark Villar will start work at the Department of Justice (DOJ) next month.
”Si Usec. Villar sa August pa (Usec. Villar will start in August),” said Guevarra who explained Emmeline is still doing “wind-up” work at the House of Representatives.
On the other hand, Guevarra assured that three newly appointed officials of the DOJ will start work next week.
They are lawyers Adrian Sugay and Mark Perete, both of whom were named Justice Undersecretaries, and lawyer Neal Vincent Bainto who got appointed as Justice Assistant Secretary.
All four newly appointed officials have been recommended by Guevarra for appointment by Malacañang.
Even though Emmeline is still away, Guevarra assured that the three newly appointed officials will be able to do their jobs well.
“Sanay sa mabigat na trabaho ang mga kinuha kong new Usecs/Asec (They are used to heavy workloads),” he said.
The Palace appointed the four after it accepted the courtesy resignations of Undersecretaries Raymund Mecate, Erickson Balmes, and Reynante Orceo as well as Assistant Secretary Juvy Manwong.
