Auxiliary Bishop of Antipolo named

The parish priest of the Our Lady of Light Parish in Cainta, Rizal has been appointed as Auxiliary Bishop of Antipolo.

Pope Francis appointed Father Nolly Buco as auxiliary bishop for the Diocese of Antipolo on Tuesday.

According to a CBCP News post, Buco is the first priest elevated to the episcopate and the first auxiliary bishop in the 35-year history of the diocese.

Ordained priest on October 18, 1993, the 54-year old bishop-designate completed his Philosophy at the Sacred Heart Seminary in Palo, Leyte and his Theology at the Immaculate Conception Major Seminary in Guiguinto, Bulacan.

Between 2002 and 2003, he attended the PhD program in Anthropology at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City.

In 2004, he completed his Doctorate in Canon Law at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila.

A priest for 24 years, Father Buco also held the following positions: Judicial Vicar of Antipolo, Rector of the Our of Peace and Good Voyage Seminary, and member of the Board of Presbyteral Consultors.
