Arabic teacher shot dead

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Policemen in this city continued to face a blank wall as to the identity of the gunmen in the series of killings that have already accounted for four lives here since Saturday.

Police Regional Office for Zamboanga peninsula (PRO-9) Spokesman Chief Insp. Helen Galvez said an Arabic teacher was shot and killed on Tuesday night by a riding in tandem gunman at Talon-Talon Loop road in this city.

Galvez identified the victim as Ibrahim Baginda y Bakil, 34 yrs. old, married and a resident of Masjid Abubakar in the village of Talon-Talon in this city.

He was shot and killed Tuesday about 10 pm by gunmen riding in tandem on a motorcycle at the busy bypass road of Talon-Talon loop, Barangay Talon-Talon in this city

Baguinda was the fourth to die from an assassin since Saturday, July 7.

Galvez said Baguinda sustained multiple gunshot wound on his body and head that cause his death.

According to Galvez, policemen who rushed to the crime scene recovered 24 pieces empty shell of caliber 9mm pistol.

Investigation disclosed that the victim together with his minor daughter identified as Nushran B. Baginda were onboard their single motorcycle and were travelling along the road of Talon-Talon Loop heading towards Don Alfaro Street, Tetuan.

Two unidentified persons also onboard on another single motorcycle wearing full face helmet with black mask and black jacket were tailing them and upon reaching near Cecile’s pharmacy the back rider shot the victim several times.

Still not contented, the suspect approached the victim and pump more shots before they fled towards Barangay Talon-talon, Galvez said.

Last Saturday morning, Michael Magallanes a newly elected barangay kagawad and former president of the Rotary Club West was shot dead by an unidentified gunman just outside of his residence in Barangay Sta. Catalina in this city.
