CAMP AQUINO, Tarlac City – A group of New People’s Army (NPA) rebels surrendered to Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) troopers Friday in Brgy. San Agustin, Carranglan, Nueva Ecija.
NOLCOM said Six (6) members of the Communist NPA Terrorist Group (CNTG), consisting of five (5) Regular NPA members and a Milisyang Bayan (MB) member, initially went on lie-low status and eventually surrendered to the 3rd Civil Military Operations (3CMO) Company, the 84th Infantry Battalion (84IB) and the 70th Cadre Battalion, all under the Joint Task Force (JTF) “Kaugnay”.
All surrenderees were former members of Josefino Corpuz Command, lately called Kilusang Larangang Gerilya (KLG) “Caraballo”.
They yielded one (1) High Powered Firearms (HPFA) and five (5) Low Powered Firearms (LPFAs) consisting of a Caliber .30 M1 Garand Rifle (SN 551344); a US Carbine M1 (with defaced SN w/ one (1) magazine); a US Springfield M1903 bolt action (M14 converted); two (2) 12 Shotguns (improvised) with six (6) pcs live ammos and one (1) magazine; and a 16-Gauge Shotgun (improvised) with four (4) pcs live ammunition.
This was a result of sustained and intensified CMO activities and Radio Broadcasting System (RBS) Operations conducted by NOLCOM forces in the area bounding the provinces of Nueva Ecija, Eastern Pangasinan and Nueva Viscaya, said the army in a statement.
NOLCOM forces will continue to pressure NPA remnants to abandon their armed struggle, rejoin their families and be productive Filipino Citizens, it added.
