The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is monitoring a typhoon outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) which is expected to enter the country on Monday morning.
Based on the latest weather bulletin of PAGASA, the typhoon, which has the international name “Maria,” was located at 1,965 kilometer east of Southern Luzon outside PAR.
Maria packs maximum sustained winds of 125 kilometer per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 155 kph.
When it enters the country, it will be given the local name “Gardo.”
PAGASA Weather Specialist Ezra Bulquerin said that the typhoon is not expected to make landfall when it enters the country by Monday.
