Boratong syndicate associate nabbed

Over P1 million worth of shabu was seized from an associate of the notorious Boratong drug syndicate during a buy-bust operation in Pasig City early Tuesday morning.

Combined elements of the Pasig police Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) DEU, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) held a drug sting that led to the arrest of Haimen Rangaig, 24, an alleged associate of the Boratong Drug syndicate.

Police said that Rangaig was the peddler and courier of the Boratong Drug syndicate.

The Boratong Drug syndicate, according to Pasig police, was founded by convicted drug lord Amin Iman Boratong. He was the operator of the “Shabu Tiangge(Shabu Flea Market)” in Pasig.

Investigation showed that at around 2 a.m. undercover agents transacted with Rangaig along San Agustin St. in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig. He was caught in the barangay where he is residing.

Reports said that after handing the P200, 000  marked money in exchange for shabu, he was nabbed by other cops.

Upon frisking, policemen found seven sachets containing shabu, weighing around  200 grams. Police said that the street value of shabu confiscated was at about P1, 300, 000.

On June 11, Janneth Libon and Pablito Domingo were nabbed with more than P600, 000 worth of shabu in the same barangay where Rangaig was busted. (Jel Santos)

Rangaig was held at the Pasig police headquarters’ detention cell.

Barangay official nabbed in drug sting

A barangay official faces charges after he was arrested during a sting in Caloocan City.

Charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were filed Tuesday against Abdul Asis Mamorenta, 48, Barangay 188 deputy task force head.

Operatives from the city’s drug enforcement unit led by Sr. Inspector Cecilio Tomas nabbed Mamorenta during a buy-bust operation along Phase 12 on Saturday night.

Also arrested during the operation were Mamorenta’s cohorts identified as Genelyn Marino, 30, jobless and partners  Saiben Acmad, 23, and Salimah Acmad, 23, jobless.

Seized from them were eight packs of suspected shabu weighing 14 grams and with an estimated worth of P42,000.

Tomas said the suspects were pointed by Alicia Esponelia as her source of illegal drugs. Esponelia was arrested along with five others earlier that day during a sting in Barangay 34.

However, during an interview, the barangay official denied the allegations.

Meanwhile, Salimah Acmad’s 65-year-old mother Soraida Gamuranao was also nabbed for allegedly trying to bribe PO2 Christian Santos with P50,000 in exchange of her daughter’s release.

The mother was charged with violation of Article 212 or the Corruption of Public Officials of the Revised Penal Code. (Kate Javier)
