NBI enters probe on Halili Slay

TANAUAN CITY, Batangas— the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on its initiative will conduct an investigation on the death of Tanauan City Mayor Antonio Halili.

The team from NBI Region 4A Calabarzon arrived at Halili’s burial at his home in Villa Josefa, Barangay Sambat here, Tuesday, and had a few minutes meeting with his family.

NBI Region 4A Executive Officer,  Jonathan George Atienza said the NBI has started to conduct an investigation; however, he refused to divulge any initial findings at the moment.

“It’s a separate investigation but we will coordinate with the PNP because they are the lead agency, tumutulong lang kami, anything na pwede namin maitulong (We are helping (PNP), anything that we could)” Atienza said.

Meanwhile, the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Tanauan City has passed a resolution expressing condolences and giving recognition to Mayor Halili’s great contribution to the city.

Vice Mayor Benedicto Corona said an appropriate ceremony will be given for Halili as a way of giving gratitude to what he had done for the people of Tanauan this week.

“We will approve a resolution expressing our deepest condolences to the family, he is a great loss for Tanauan City,” Vice Mayor Corona said.
