Running away triggers shootout

A man who ran away from a police operation ended up being killed after engaging policemen in a shootout within Quezon City Friday night.

Investigators of the Quezon City Police District identified the fatality as Luisito Gonzales, known as Louie, a resident of Mango Subdivision in Barangay Sta. Monica, Novaliches, Quezon City.

Operatives of QCPD-Novaliches Police Station (PS-4) were conducting Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO) in Geronimo Compound, Barangay Sta. Monica at around 10:35 p.m.

However, Gonzales, upon seeing the policemen, ran away from the scene which caught the attention of the authorities.

Police officers called the Gonzales but instead of stopping, he suddenly pulled out his handgun and shot at the operatives.

Five drug peddlers

Shabu worth P300,000 was seized from five drug peddlers, in Navotas City Thursday evening, a belated report said.

Operatives from the Northern Police District Special Operation Unit led by Sr. Inspector Robert Bunayog conducted a buy-bust operation at Market 3 in the Fish Port Complex around 6:30 p.m.

The team arrested the target identified as 24-year-old Jonalyn Santos and her companion Rogelio Ilustrisimo, 23. They conspired to sell four sachets of suspected shabu to an undercover cop.

Meanwhile, police said they chanced upon three suspects near the area possessing six plastic sachets.

They were identified as Russel Dalsaitan, 19; Joseph Flores, 45; and Rizza Mae Cortez, 34.

Around 50 grams of shabu were recovered from the suspects, police said. (Kate Javier)

Carnapper falls

A notorious carnapper died during an encounter with members of the Anti-Carnapping Unit (AnCar) of the Las Pinas City police, early Saturday morning..

The suspect was identified as Jefferson Perido, 30, a resident of Pulang Lupa I, Las Pinas City. He suffered several gunshot wounds in the body and died on the spot.

Investigation showed the incident happened at about 2:15 a.m. along Gatchalian Drive, Manuyo Dos, Las Pinas City.

According to Sr. Supt. Marion Balonglong, prior to the shootout members of the AnCar conducted a follow-up operation on the complaint of a man claiming that his MIO motorcycle was forcibly taken at gunpoint from him.

Balonglong said that during follow-up operation, members of the AnCar unit spotted the motorcycle with Perido on board.

Upon seeing the operatives Perido tried to speed off, at the same time shooting at the pursuing lawmen.

The AnCar operatives retaliated, causing the suspect to fall.

Police recovered from the suspect the carnapped motorcycle, one. 38 caliber revolver and one sewing kit pouch containing two heat-sealed plastic sachets of shabu.

3 men fall inside hotel

Three men, previously involved in an alleged robbery-holdup incident inside a UV Express in Pasay, were nabbed inside a hotel during a police operation Friday in Sta. Cruz, Manila, police said.

The Sta. Cruz Police Station identified the suspects as Keith Razzel Gonzales, 27, of 850 Gonzalo Puyet St., Quiapo, Manila, and brothers Janno Maguddatu, 23, of Della St. West Fairview, Quezon City, and Kenneth Maguddatu, 18, of Pabahay, San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.

Five months before their arrest,, a video showing the three suspects declaring a hold-up inside a UV Express circulated through a news report posted by GMA News, police said.

The footage showed the three suspects separately entering the vehicle along Vito Cruz, Manila and posing as passengers.

The suspects took the passengers’ phones, wallets, and cash.

On June 29, the Alvarez Police Community Precinct (PCP) received information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects, prompting elements of the Alvarez PCP led by PCI Roy Augustrus Calulot, to conduct a manhunt operation against the suspects.

The suspects were arrested inside the Spring Hotel along Rizal Avenue near corner Doroteo Jose St. at around 3 a.m.

Authorities recovered a bladed weapon, two .guns with four live ammunition and six sachets of suspected shabu.,

An unidentified man died when he allegedly fell and landed at the garage of a condominium, Friday afternoon in Pasay City.

Police described the victim as about 25 to 40 years old, with Chinese-looking eyes, of medium built and about 5’5” to 5’7” in height.

Investigation showed that the body of the victim was discovered by security personnel at the garage of the Shell Residences located along EDSA Extension, Barangay 76 at about 5:15 p.m.

The victim was brought to the San Juan De Dios Hospital but was declared already dead. by receiving doctors.

The police said three Chinese nationals were prevented from leaving by security personnel of the said condominium after they were seen coming out from Unit 720.

The police said that they are looking into the possibility that the body of the victim came from Unit 720 where three Chinese nationals-- Zhongliang Yuan; Wei Cheng and Dengquan Xiao--were seen through the CCTV of the condominium.

The incident was reported to the Chinese Embassy while the three were detained by the police and were still being investigated. (Hans Amancio)
