Undersecretary Rosemarie Edillon of Planning and Policy, National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) gave officers, enlisted personnel, and civilian personnel a walkthrough of the long-term plan and guided them on the AFP's role in vision.

AmBisyon Natin 2040 was the highlight of the governance forum-lecture series organized by the Office for Strategic Studies and Strategy Management. It aims to uplift the quality of life of Filipinos by enhancing the social fabric, addressing inequality, and increasing the growth potential of Filipino communities.

AmBisyon is also seen as the government's answer to socio-economic problems that give credence to violent extremist narratives such as those propagated by the Communist Party of the Philippines and Islamic State-inspired groups.

"We can look at AmBisyon as our country's solution the perpetrators of the armed conflict--groups like the New People's Army, the Abu Sayyaf, and Maute--who exploit the socio-economic vulnerability of our far-flung communities," AFP Public Affairs Office Chief Colonel Noel Detoyato said.

Meanwhile, the governance forum-lecture series is a tool to further enhance the strategic culture and mindset in the General Headquarters. It aims to inspire AFP personnel to consistently adhere to the core values of honor, service, and patriotism in line with its Transformation Roadmap.

On behalf of the AFP Chief of Staff General Carlito Galvez Jr., the AFP Vice Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Salvador Melchor Mison Jr., graced the event as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.

“This describes our critical role as member of the armed forces, so that Filipinos will live their lives in safety from elements that gives harm, so that Filipinos may in turn, be more focused on nation building," Mison said.

“The AmBisyon Natin 2040 paints a perfect picture and goals as a nation, the long-term development plan will ultimately pave the way and direct us to our desired destinations of having a life for all Filipinos, that means matatag, maginhawa, at panatag sa buhay," Mison added.
