The Manila Police District through the Manila District Traffic Enforce Unit has implemented a rerouting scheme today, June 26 amid the ongoing emergency construction of the Otis Bridge.
All vehicles coming from Nagtahan/Mabini Bridge (southbound) intending to turn right to at Paz Guanzon St., to utilize United Nations Ave., shall go straight to Pres. Quirino Ave., then turn right to Plaza Dilao, and straight to Pres Quirino Ave. Ext., then turn left to United Nations Ave. to point of destination.
All vehicles eastbound of United Nations Ave., intending to utilize Paz Guanzon St., shall turn right to Pres. Quirino Ave. to Plaza Dilao to point of destination.
Motorists are advised to expect heavy traffic.
The public is advised to use alternate routes as the Otis Bridge in Manila was closed to vehicular traffic after cracks were found on its middle on Tuesday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said.
“As per DPWH, the girder of the bridge collapsed and visible cracks were found on the middle. We cannot compromise safety. Motorists and truckers have to take a detour for their safety,” he said.
The MMDA on the other hand advised truck drivers to take the following alternate route:
From South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) to R-10, take President Quirino Avenue, left turn at Plaza Dilao, right to President Quirino Avenue Extension, straight to U.N. Avenue, right to Romualdez, right to Romualdez to destination.
From R10 to SLEX, right at C-3 Road, 5th Avenue, left to A. Bonifacio Avenue, NLEX, right to Smart Connect Service Road, right to Mindanao Avenue to destination.
