In an interview with Bulletin Entertainment, he said that being more mature now, he could muster more emotions especially for those "hugot" songs.

Recall that after launching his first single “Ikaw Ang Kailangan Ko” in 2013, he had numerous stints on different TV series.

He also appeared in the independent films like in the 2014 Cinemalaya entry “1st Ko Si 3rd” and in the Metro Manila Film Festival finalist “Kabisera."

Although RJ is a singer, acting runs in his blood. His dad Arturo San Agustin is a director while his mom Marie Blanca is a former actress.

He doesn’t talk about his background, though, "because I don’t want them (people) to think that is the reason why I’m here."

Anyway, singing is RJ's first love so he now focuses on it. He intends to write songs, too.

Recently, RJ signed a contract with Star Music and according to him, label head Roxy Liquigan personally contacted him after the latter heard his performance aired on radio.

“So he (Roxy) messaged the station manager to let me know that he is interested in getting me,” he recalled.

The singer-actor said he got surprised over the offer as he wasn’t expecting it at all.

“I just performed,” he related.

While preparing for his album, RJ is busy promoting his single "Seryoso Na Pala" that is available on digital platforms.
