Globe Business, the information and communications technology (ICT) arm of Globe Telecom has presented a wide array of tools and solution intended to help businesses and enterprises be competitive in the digital world.

In an event dubbed as “Breakthrough with Globe Business,” Globe Business highlighted their cloud- and cybersecurity-driven business tools with their partner providers Amazon Web Services, Google, RightCloud, GoCanvas, Trustwave, and Bitsight, intended to provide enterprises with agility, scalability, and ease of collaboration among its workforce.

“Globe has gone through the same journey as most of our enterprise clients. We always need to try new technologies, set up quickly at minimal cost, and constantly test new products until we figure out what will work for our customers. We cannot do this on traditional and on-premise environments where costs will be too high. Cloud has given us the flexibility and ability to innovate quickly, continuously, and at scale,” Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu said.

The inclusion of AWS in Globe’s lineup of business solutions makes the company the first telco group in the world to offer the said cloud service. Globe is also AWS’s largest client in the country.

Globe started their partnership with AWS on 2014, with the telco’s services including G Services and other Globe mobile applications, content provisioning platforms like Spotify, Disney, and Hooq, Globe Rewards, Enterprise Data Warehouse, and Globe websites onboard AWS.

During the event, Globe Telecom Chief Information Officer Pebbles Sy-Manalang shared that Globe gained a USD 5 million or around PhP 265 million year-on-year savings since the company’s move to the cloud.

“Cloud has allowed Globe to shift from heavy-lifting traditional IT to focusing on delivering business outcomes,” Manalang said.

With their cloud journey which began on 2014, Globe is eyeing to have a unified cloud including end-to-end automation, self-healing applications, and self-optimizing cloud by the year 2019 to 2020.
