Casquejo ‘worthy’ of Comelec commissioner post — employees union

The ad interim appointment of Atty. Marlon Sabucido Casquejo as Commissioner of Commission on Elections is a welcome news for the poll body’s employees union.


Comelec Employees’ Union president Mac Ramirez said they welcome Casquejo’s appointment convinced that he is very much qualified for the post.

“The Comelec EU believes Atty. Casquejo is worthy of the post considering that he is an insider and as such, he has under his belt, years of experience and expertise in election management and administration,” he said in a statement.

Being a ranking Comelec official in the field prior to his appointment, Ramirez said they believe that he knows by heart the sentiments of the more than 5,000 Comelec rank and file employees.

“In this regard, we know Commissioner Casquejo will be supportive and open to undertaking programs that aims to promote the rights and welfare of the Comelec workforce,” he said.

Malacañang issued the ad interim appointment of Casquejo as Comelec commissioner Monday, June 18, replacing retired commissioner Christian Robert Lim.

He will serve the term expiring on February 2, 2025.

Before his appointment, Casquejo is serving as the Assistant Regional Election Director (ARED) of Davao Region.

With his appointment, Casquejo joins Comelec chairman Sheriff Abas, as well as Commissioners Luie Guia, Al Parreño, Rowena Guanzon, and Socorro Inting in the seven-man body.
