Manila to kickstart week-long celebration of city’s 447th anniversary tomorrow

In celebration of the 447th Araw ng Maynila, Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada has announced the line-up of activities in for the upcoming event on June 24.

The week-long celebration will kick-off today, June 18, with the awarding of Outstanding Employees and City Service Awardees at the Bulwagang Villegas inside the Manila City Hall.

From June 19 to 21, the city’s most outstanding educators will be awarded at the Century Park Hotel led by the Division of City Schools, followed by a free youth concert at the Rajah Sulayman Park at 7pm.

Estrada will also honor senior citizens in Manila during the “Gabi ng Parangal para sa mga Nakakatandang Manilenyo” at the Universidad de Manila.

On June 20, Estrada will celebrate local artists who have excelled in the fields of architecture, painting and other art forms during the annual “Patnubay ng Sining at Kalinangan Awards” to be held at the Ayuntamiento in Manila.

Estrada will bestow honor to outstanding city teachers, employees, judges, prosecutors and police officers at the Manila Hotel on June 21 as well as to the city’s most outstanding taxpayers and Manileños on June 22 at the Manila Hotel.

A wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the Rizal Park on June 24 followed by a Thanksgiving Mass at the San Agustin Church at 7 a.m.

The celebration will be capped off on June 26 with the much anticipated grand coronation night of the 2018 Miss Manila pageant which will be held at the Philippine International Convention Center at 7 p.m.
