Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro — A newly-elected barangay chairman, tagged by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) as a high-value target or “HVT,” was killed in an alleged shootout as anti-narcotics agents arrived to search his house for illegal drugs in Balabac, Palawan the other day.
Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Luis D. Licup, regional director (RD) of Police Regional Office 4-B (PRO4-B), said Pistoh A. Hamia, who had just been elected barangay captain of the village of Mangsee in Balabac was killed during the raid of his house at 3 a.m. last Friday.
Hamia’s companion – a certain Jaulkalnain Usman, alias “Haji Bithoh” – eluded arrest and is now the subject of a police hunt.
Licup said the raiding team seized five heat-sealed plastic sachets of shabu from Hamia’s house.
