Malacañang said the Philippines is ready to support any effort that will bring fruition to the historic meeting between US President Donald Trump and North Korean President Kim Jong-un.
Trump, after his summit with Kim, announced plans to suspend military exercises in the Korean Peninsula, adding that he expects the North Korean leader to "very quickly" dismantle the country's warfare.

Roque, in a statement, said the recently concluded summit emphasizes the value of diplomacy and peaceful dialogue to achieve peace in the world.
"We welcome the landmark summit between US President Donald Trump and DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore," he said Wednesday.
"This development, which has underscored in the strongest terms the value of diplomacy and peaceful dialogue, augurs well for the peace, security, and stability in the region and the world," he added.
Roque said that the Palace recognizes that the meeting between two of the world's most recognized leaders is just the beginning, and expressed that the Philippines will readily support for the summit to bear positive results.
"History has indeed been written. At the same time, this is but the beginning of a process. The Philippines is ready and willing to lend its support toward bringing it to fruition," he said.
Based on the joint statement signed by Trump and Kim, the two leaders conducted a comprehensive, in-depth, and sincere exchange of opinions on the issues related to the establishment of new US-DPRK relations and the building of a lasting and robust peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.
Trump has committed to provide security guarantees to the DPRK, and Kim reaffirmed his firm and unwavering commitment to denuclearize his country.
"Having acknowledged that the US-DPRK summit -- the first in history -- was an epochal event of great significance in overcoming decades of tensions and hostilities between the two countries and for the opening up of a new future, President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un commit to implement the stipulations in the joint statement fully and expeditiously," the joint statement read.
