President Duterte publicly kissing an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) on the lips in Seoul, South Korea drew concern from an official of Migrante International.

Migrante International Spokesperson Arman Hernando said the incident might have an effect on how Filipina migrant workers will be treated by their employers.

“This will have an effect on how our OFWs will be treated by their employers,” he said in a forum in Manila, Monday.

“Whatever the employer sees from our own President, that could be reflected on how they would treat our Filipina workers,” added Hernando.

He said he found the kissing incident as revolting.

“For the longest time, our domestic helpers and women workers have been experiencing sexual molestation and harassment from their employers,” said Hernando.

“And then we see how our President harassed and used his power to take advantage of an OFW in front of the whole world,” he added.

Duterte kissed the said Filipina during a meeting with the Filipino community Sunday.

The incident drew flak in social media.
