4.2-magnitude quake hits Agusan del Norte

BUTUAN CITY – A 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck Agusan del Norte, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

However, the provincial disaster risk reduction and management council based here reported no damages or injuries after the tremor struck Agusan del Norte province Friday evening.

In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the tremor was registered at 9:31 p.m., Friday evening, June 1, 2018.

The epicenter was located only 3 kilometers away southeast of Jabonga town, Agusan del Norte province, it said.

The tremor had a shallow depth of only 1 km, Phivolcs said.

Intensity ll was also registered in Surigao City, Surigao del Norte province, Phivolcs said.

No aftershock is expected.

The earthquake was tectonic in origin, the state agency said.
