President Duterte has designated Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea as officer-in-charge while he visits South Korea on June 3 to 5.
In Special Order No. 11, Mediladea has been assigned to supervise daily operations of the Executive branch to ensure uninterrupted public service.
Medialdea is also authorized to act for and on behalf of the President except on matters that the President is required by the Constitution to act in person while he is abroad.
“The President will be in Seoul, South Korea on 03-05 June 2018 for an official visit,” the order read.
“To ensure continuity of government service, it is necessary to designate an Officer-in-Charge (OIC) to take care of the day-to-day operations in the Office of the President and oversee the general administration of the Executive Department,” it added
All government agencies have been directed to assist Medialdea n the discharge of his functions.
President Duterte is expected to hold a meeting with South Korea President Moon Jae-in to tackle renewed cooperation on trade, infrastructure development, agriculture, among others at the Blue House on Monday. Duterte is also scheduled to meet with South Korea businessmen as well as the Filipino community while visiting Seoul.
